Finally remembered my feedback forms from 5INT when I first taught them in 2015/2016 (Mark, Rika, Ethan etc) and concluded that I should compile them into an easy-refer list so I don't have to keep the forms (although they are such dears/laughs when they write). So here goes...
4. In your valued opinion, what would make music class more interesting? (bear in mind that learning MUST take place):
-Games e.g. "Guess The Song" where the Teacher uses solfege (hands + voice) and groups guess the song
-Videos: to introduce different kinds of music from different places (including CLASSICAL MUSIC)
-Quieter class
-LONGER TIME (>30min)
-More instruments
-More interesting facts (???)
-Beatboxing (and other more age-relevant music)
-Remove the clutter in the classroom- make it into a MUSIC LEARNING SPACE
-Differentiated learning for those who are already good (this means I must be able to PICK OUT those who are good- i have a problem with that, using 1hr a week!)
OTHER POSSIBLE SUGGESTIONS (from articles):
-Play songs before lesson to help students warm up (*not sure if it would make students over-excited... will need to improve on class management & routines in order to combat the possibly noise)
-Flexible seating spaces (students sign a contract that lets them choose a space that best helps them learn)
