i was just treated to a modelling of how 4DS can be 'tamed'... and by the ukulele vendor.

I think I get it now.

This trainer is highly irate and loud, and she moves faster for them to catch. This challenges them to work hard.

We always talk about setting high expectations but we dont know where our actual gap is when we teach.

This lady barks (fast) commands like a soldier and asks questions that would confuse most IN and RT pupils (i have sat in their lessons).

She also gets quickly annoyed (AIYOH I TELL YOU ALR YOU STILL NEVER LISTEN. THREE TIMES ALR).

She does not use the threat/authority technique to "intimidate" but more of her loud and naggy voice.

I think I forget that in P3-4 they are now banded and therefore they each class should be taught differently, and teachers should learn DI across the classes (including the scope of how to manage the class).

There is also alot of ASSUMED trust (she makes them sit in register number and entrusts the first person to teach the rest of the row after she shows the first person)

Basically she progresses with the lesson alot faster.

SOW will NEED to include stretch and support activities / options.

She also quickly moves on without lecturing them on their behaviour (because for the DS pupils she understands (and now i understand too) that it is not because they cannot control themselves but they are not engaged. She always says they are slow, asking them to hurry up, always challenging them by putting them down (but not in a bad way).

VERY very different teacher from Ken (RT) who also teaches exceptionally well for the RT class as he explains clearly and slowly and he KEEPS ON encouraging them.

HAHAHAHAHA. They are already moving to a song and only its the second lesson. She does not really check for understanding. And she just turned to the song and said okay now sing. (the class stunned).

Actually I'm wondering how the class would react to Ken.

Nevertheless, I am now filled with renewed vigor to keep trying new ways. Kids are all different and banded classes are also all different. I know that but I think along with the plethora of other "things to know and apply", i lost it somewhere along the way. Haha.

On another note, Mdm is coming to see 1DL! Half excited, wondering how I can improve.
